Hurtigruten Norway

One of our team members, Taru Karisalmi, recently returned from a Southbound coastal voyage. Here is a snippet of her wonderful trip:

"I recently had a wonderful experience doing the Hurtigruten southbound voyage on MS Nordnorge from Kirkenes to Bergen. The scenery was absolutely amazing changing from arctic tundra and snowy top mountains to southern Norway’s green and lush forests and steep fjords and waterfalls. One of the highlights on my trip was the excursion to North Cape, the northernmost point of Europe.

We started the tour in Honningsvag, drove through the most beautiful Lappish scenery, visited a little Sami farm, enjoyed a hearty breakfast at North Cape and joined the ship again in Hammerfest, the northernmost city in the world. Some of my other favourite stops were the Lofoten Islands with cute Norwegian rorbus, the fisherman cottages (I even spotted some huge sea eagles there!) and Trondheim, a beautiful historical town where I could have easily spent a day or two exploring the quaint streets of the city.

I had the most wonderful time on the voyage and next time I would love to experience it in winter with snow and the Northern Lights!"

50 Degrees North is an official representative for Hurtigruten Voyages here in Australia. Hurtigruten ships travel 365 days a year along the stunning Norwegian coast from Bergen in the south to Kirkenes at the top of Norway.
